The life story of Marion Barker, a world-renowned trombonist who came from the harshest beginnings in the ghettos of Atlanta, GA. Through hard work he accomplished such feats as playing for Michael Jackson, Aretha Jackson, and being the first African-American to play in the Macon Symphony Orchestra. His mission was to travel the world and inspire young musicians and people alike to be the best version of themselves. He would also tell you that of all his passions, the greatest was for his family.

Marion Barker was a dear dear friend. When he passed away he left a gaping wound in our heart. He was such a loving and compassionate person - and his book reflected him to a T. I bought the book yesterday and couldn't put it down (downloaded to my Kindle so I'll have it forever!!). It was as if Marion was there - narrating it. I could hear his voice. I laughed. I cried. I clapped my hands. This book is 100% MARION BARKER and those who purchase it - especially those who knew him - will NOT be disappointed. He was down home southern, ever the gentleman, totally immersed in his family, his friends and his music. He was an accomplished musician, but more than that, he was my friend. Read the book. You'll be glad you took the time to do it. You'll have about every emotion possible while reading it and you'll learn what made Marion who he was. I miss you my friend. Special Note: Marion passed away before his book was complete and ready for publication so his wife Bettina and his daughter Olivia finished the book for him. They knew him so well that their edits and additions are barely perceptible. Marion would love their efforts and he would be so proud!!Product details

Me My Trombone and Life A story of perseverance musicianship cultural differences and love edition by Marion Barker Arts Photography eBooks Reviews
An awesome life story of an inspiring man, who loved God. He lived life and giving to those God placed in his path. He was blessed to bless others.
Words cannot express how touched I am in reading this book. Marion Barker was/is a beautiful soul. I know this from experience because that is/was my cousin. I can see his bubbly self now. I am truly honored for his kind words about my mom and dad (Aunt Sue and Uncle Jesse). When I was a little girl and he stayed with us, it was never boring. I'm glad my parents were influential in his life. To know my cousin, you had to know his love and passion for music. It was all he ate, slept, and breathed. This book captures it well. I just hate that he is not here to see how beautifully it is written. His passing hit our family hard, and I am glad that I was there for Bettina when she called me. To my beautiful cousins, well done. Marion would be so proud of you all. To everyone else who reads this book, please enjoy the beautiful soul of Marion Barker. He was a tremendous musician and wonderful father and husband, and more like my big brother than cousin. This book brought back some memories and tears of joy. To my cousin, I will forever love you. I hope everyone will enjoy this book as much as I have.
